Do unions reinforce victimization against "the man" and claim workers are "entitled" to more money...?

No, unions collectively bargain for a group of people so that no one worker deals exclusively with their bosses. It actually works well for both sides because management does not have to make individual contracts with every worker and deals on a group basis. There is nothing negative about an earned entitlement.
