The Apprentice: Didn't the boardroom scene with Sir Alan and Katie look set up?

Fab viewing, as ever! But to me it seemed as though Sir Alan already knew that Katie wasn't going to accept a place in the final; something must have been going on behind the scenes. The camera kept switching to Katie after she'd been chosen for the final, even though Sir Alan had moved on to Simon and Christina. This makes me think the programme makers and Sir Alan already knew Katie was going to stand down. Your thoughts?
