What can ease night time infant ear pain from fluid build up from recent cold virus?

My 8 month Granddaughter has ear pain. Dr. today said she has fluid in her right ear. Not infected this afternoon. No antibiotics given. She has a cold with lots of stuffy mucus. Poor thing! Now at night time, she wakes up crying and tugging at ear. Any help to get through the night??
